THE TOP DIET FOR BEAUTIFUL AND HEALTHY NAILS

Posted by Abas on 1/19/2015

Beautiful nails are on every woman’s wish list. Yet, one too many females run around applying this and that to their nails to make them stronger and longer while forgetting the most important component to achieve beautiful nails, their diet.

Heathy Nails

Legumes (Beans)

Every cell in our body needs protein to survive! It is the source to replace dead cells and is the building block of nails. A diet containing an adequate amount of protein will ensure your nails are on the right path to being the dazzling beauties you know they can be.

So, drink your milk as you’ve always been told, and enjoy a vital source of protein to keep nails strong. Lean meats such as fish and chicken will also provide the body with a nice dose of protein. For the vegetarians, nutritional yeast and legumes added to the diet will do the trick.

Wheat Germ

Nail growth is rapid and those cells require steady levels of zinc to promote healthy growth. If ever you’ve gasped at the sight of brittle nails that barely seem to grow, then perhaps your body was experiencing a zinc deficiency. Avoid splitting, slow growth, and discoloration with a slight tinge to your diet.

Toss a little wheat germ onto your cereal in the morning or sprinkle pumpkin and squash seeds onto salads for a nice dose of zinc. Roast beef and peanuts are also other nice sources. Oysters and veal are two of the highest sources of zinc, so when out on a special night, indulge in a little zinc.

Boiled Eggs

Vitamin B12 deficiency is rare. Our bodies, being the little wonders that they are, typically store adequate levels of B12 to last for years. However, if this vital component in protein and DNA synthesis is ever low, nails can appear pitted, spotted, and discolored.

Vegans might have to enjoy a few fortified products such as tofu and soy milk to enjoy healthy levels of Vitamin B12. When viewing lists from the National Institutes of Health, animal sources such as trout, salmon, tuna, beef, milk, and boiled eggs all top the list for high sources of B12.

Dark Leafy Greens

Another slow growth factor of nails is iron deficiency. This sad little case of not eating enough beans and leafy greens disables your body from producing enough hemoglobin- the iron containing component that transfers oxygen in the red blood cells. The lack of oxygen to your nails results in short stubby nails. Not exactly your dream when growing beautiful long nails.

Begin to promote nail growth by stocking up on dark leafy greens. One cup of cooked spinach will give your body 100g of iron. White beans, lentils, and pumpkin seed will also provide 100g. Here’s to eating for faster growing nails!

Salmon

Don’t skimp on the Omega 3's if you desire stronger nails. These lubricating fats will moisturize your nails and reduce the risk of splitting. Promote the healthy growth of new cells and nourish your nail bed with Omega 3's.

Several great sources just happen to be fish. So, when reaching for the chicken, perhaps you might consider swapping it for salmon, trout, blue-fin tuna, or tilapia. Are you not much of a fish person? Almonds, cashews, and pecans will not only add a crunch to cereals, but they’ll give your body a few moisturizing Omega 3’s to enjoy.

So, now you have a nice list of foods to include into your diet for healthier beautiful nails. Beans, wheat germ, dark leafy greens, salmon, and boiled eggs will do the trick. Add these foods to your meals throughout the week and watch your nails grow into the beautiful nails you always knew they could be.

Yet, with all these foods, what do you flavor them with? Herbs! These little flavoring plants are not to be overlooked when on the quest to beautiful nails.

Herbs

Weak nails will never be a sign of beauty. Thin and flimsy nails have a faulty structure and will peel off lengthwise.

Grab some calcium with the help of a few herbs. Yes, a glass of milk is wonderful too. Yet, with the extra oomph of Vitamin A and minerals, these plants add more than just nice flavouring to foods.  From A to T

Allspice, Curry, Dill, Oregano, Rosemary, and Turmeric are a just a few.

Now, please note that not once in this article is there any mention of anything fried, sugary, or relating to junk food. As tasty as those items are, they are after all junk! What you put into your body is how your body will look. So, load up on the good stuff and if you have to, manage the junk in moderation, just for a taste. Wash it all down with water and go back to the good foods that will lengthen and beautify your nails in no time!
