5 Ways to Make the Most out of the Christmas Season!

If you are new to the nail art business you may not realize just how big of a money maker the Christmas holiday season is. (It's big.)

This time of year is a great opportunity to expand you business and boost your clientèle. It's also a great time to start thinking about how you'd like to continue to expand in the future. In this article, I'll give you a few quick tips regarding how you can make the most out of the Christmas season this year.

1. Get Into the Holiday Spirit
This is the first, and perhaps most important, step in making the most out of the Christmas season. Something about seeing the signs and symbols that say “Christmas” makes people ready to spend more money that they usually would (Don't ask me why!). But you have to participate if you want to take advantage of this phenomenon.

First of all, this definitely means that you need to decorate your salon so that your customers know that you are in the Christmas spirit. This means that you need to deck the halls in red and green, have pictures of Father Christmas about, and all the rest of it. And be creative! No amount of decoration is too much.

2. Create Special Offers
I don't need to tell you that your clients are going to want Christmas themed designs for their nails. It's your job to deliver these designs to them (Don't worry, I'll have plenty of tips on this in my next newsletter). But make sure that you present these Christmas designs as special offers. Give some sort of discount so that your clients feel like they are getting a special deal because of the magic of Christmas and its extension of good will toward mankind. There's nothing like a little discount to get people into the Christmas spirit!

And while you're at it, you can start preparing a new loyalty plan for the new year. And don't be afraid to let people know about it in the mean time. This can be a great way to bring in 2010.

3. Get Prepared
Now make sure that if there are any Christmas-related supplies that you need, that you get them soon as your clients are likely to start asking for Christmas designs as early as the end of November. And make sure that you are stocked up! You don't want to run out on December 12th!

4. Gift Cards
While some people simply love Christmas, it drives other people crazy because they simply CANNOT think of a gift to get for their sister, or cousin, or neighbor. But you can take advantage of this situation by offering gift cards at your salon. You clients will be relieved that they now have gifts for those tough-to-shop-for people on their lists. And, more importantly, you'll have several leads on new clients!

5. Start Planning for Next Year
Remember that as soon as Christmas is over, a new year will be upon us. Right now is the perfect time to start setting goals for 2010. Since you are going to be so busy during the Christmas season helping your clients, you should try to right down a few of the things that you want to accomplish with your business in 2010 right now. This is going to be an exciting new decade for all of us, but you can make it even better by setting specific goals for how you would like to expand your business in the coming year.
